Situation:

Weak fronts embedded in a westerly flow affect the country today. A more intense front sweeps northwards tomorrow, reaching central areas at night. An intense front sweeps across the North Island on Sunday morning, followed by a westerly flow. On Monday, another front sweeps across New Zealand from the west.

Friday: Southwest 10 knots but variable 5 knots east of Motiti Island. Becoming westerly 10 knots but northerly 10 knots in the east in the morning. Rising to westerly 20 knots everywhere in the afternoon. Easing to 15 knots but 10 knots in the east in the evening. Sea becoming moderate for a time in the afternoon and evening. Mainly fine. Northeast swell 1 metre.
